Hi fellow Coddiwomplers,
Happy New Year! I wish you everything that you wish for yourself in 2025. I’m not a great one for New Year’s Resolutions, I find them too stressful. I much prefer to be in flow, just like the natural world and ease myself in gently. After all, deep winter is a time of rest and recuperation in readiness for the new beginnings that spring brings.
December seemed to fly by. Did you find that too? Unfortunately we succumbed to one of the dreadful viruses that were circulating in the build-up to the festivities and it’s taken a long time to shake it off (just over two weeks so far) but Christmas was still special.
Christmas time without my parents around still feels odd even though they’ve been gone for 12 years now. It still feels like a part of me is missing, but I try to find different ways to include them somehow and this year I bought them a present by way of a beautiful new photo frame for one of their wedding photos.
Having said that, my Christmases are certainly not sad, just different. Most importantly, they are still full of love, joy and togetherness. Family life is continually evolving, especially as Tim became a granddad for the first time on 29th December to baby Poppy. I’m not going to share too much at the moment as it’s their private family time, suffice to say that all is well.
Despite the lurghy and some appalling weather I still managed to find some time to connect with nature and go to the beach. I felt so peaceful and aligned with the sound of the water lapping the pebbles, gulls squealing, oyster catchers calling and little plovers trotting along the shoreline. There is something magical about the sounds and smell of the sea.

Christmas shopping still needed to be done though and the murky, dull days are perfect for that. However, our shopping plans do tend to drift off-piste somewhat…
We set off to look at air-fryers one afternoon, however we returned home with a new toilet brush for the spare room and two tins of mixed beans instead! We still don’t have an air-fryer but we do have a spotless toilet and the mixed beans were delicious in a Cottage Pie and a casserole!
I also part of a beautiful group called “Overflow” last month, thanks to Tonja Mills. She guided us through gentle but still very powerful meditations and activations ready for the start of 2025. One of them took me to the cockpit of an aeroplane, with my hands on the controls. I could feel the engines roaring louder and louder ready for take-off, which has led me to my word for 2025: ELEVATE (in all areas of my life.) I find choosing a word for the year ahead much softer than full-on Resolutions, have you tried it? Have a go, it’s fun!
During this quiet, restorative time I am calling in elevated guidance for slow and gentle living led by the seasons and rhythms of the natural world, a weekly time-slot solely for writing and/or art with no distractions, maintaining my spiritual and wellbeing practices, strengthening my boundaries without being selfish, embracing more Joy and less of the drama.
What are you inviting in for 2025? Let me know in the Comments so we can all hold positive energy for each other!
Thank you so much for being here and if you made it to the end, pop the word ELEVATE in the Comments.
Until next time, I wish you a peaceful January.
Wendy xx
